In the name of God Amen the sixt day of May in the
yeare of our lord god according to the Computation of the Church
of England one Thousand six hundred Fifty and seaven I William
Wigg of Standbridge in the p[ar]ish of Leighton Buzard in the County
of Bed[for]d yeoman being weake in body but of sound perfect memory
thankes bee given to Allmighty God theirfore and knowing the certaynty
of death and the uncertaynty of the time when itt shall please
God of his mercy to call mee thence and for the better setling
of that talent which Almighty God in his mercy hath lent mee in
this world doe make and ordayne this my present Testament declaring
itt to bee my last will in manner and forme followinge that is
to say First and principally I bequeath my soule into the hands
of Almighty God my maker and of his sonne Jesus Christ my blessed
Saviour and redeemer trusting only through his precious death and
merritts to obtayne life eternall and my body to the earth wherof
itt was made to be decently buryed att the discretion of my executrix
hearafter named Item I give to the poore of Standbridge thirty
shillings to be disposed of att the discretion of my Executrix
within one month after my decease Item I give to William my sonne
my Messuage wherin I now dwell in Standbridge and all my Lands
Tenements and hereditaments freehold and leasehold whatsoever lying
and being in Standbridge Billinton and Egginton in the p[ar]ish
of Leighton Buzard aforesayd in the County of Bed[for]d aforesayd
to hold to him and his heires for ever after hee shall attayne
to the age of one and twenty yeares and untill hee shall attayne
to the sayd age I will and devise that my Executrix shall have
and enjoy the sayd Messuage land and Tenements before mentioned
and to receive the issues and proffits theirof Provided that my
sayd somme Willia[m] shall pay unto Mary my daughter the sum of
one hundred and fifty pounds of good and lawfull mony of England
when shee shall attayne to the age of eighteene yeares and for
default of payment shee to enter upon the East end Close and the
two Fishwells or Fishwares to hold to shee and her heires for ever
and likewise to pay to Adria my daughter the like sume of one hundred
and fifty pounds of good and lawfull money of England when shee
shall attayne to the age of eighteene yeares and for default of
payment shee to enter upon the three halfe yards in Billinton meade
and the tenn Acres of land in Standbridg feilds being purchased
of Mr Chester to shee & her heires for ever Ite[m] I give to
Mary my loving wife my twenty Acres of land In the feilds of Eaton
and Tatterhoe in the County of Bed[for]d aforsayd during
the tearme of her naturall life and after her decease to William
my sonne and his heires for ever I likewise give to him my Furnace
and brewine vessell the table in my hall and Cubboard and the Fowerth
part of my houshold goods and plate to bee equaly devided when
hee shall attayne to the age of one and twenty yeares Item I give
unto Mary my daughter Fifty pounds of lawfull mony of England to
bee payd to her by my executrix hearafter named within one yeare
after my decease and then to bee imployed for the best use and
benifite for her And likewise I give unto her a fowerth part of
my houshold goods and plate to bee devyded as beforesayd Item I
give unto Adria my daughter the like some of Fifty pounds to bee
payd to her by my executrix hearafter named within one yeare after
my decease to bee Imployed for the best use and benifite of her
and likewise I give unto her a fowerth part of my houshold goods
and plate to bee devided as beeforesayd Ite[m] my will is that
if either of my daughters shall depart this life before they shall
attayne to the age of eightene yeares that then the Survivor of
them shall have the others legacie only my sonne Willia[m] shall
pay but two hundred & Fifty pounds to the survivor of them All
the rest of my goods Chattell and Cattell undisposed I give unto
Mary my loving wife for the better bringup of my Children and for
the paying of my debts and legacies and discharging of my Funerall
rites whom I make my sole executrix of this my last will and Testament
And I desire my loving Thomas Wigg of Mentmore and my Cozen Thomas
Wigg his sonne to bee overseers of this my will and for their Care
and paines theirin I give to either of them a payre of gloves In
witnes wherof I have sett to my hand and seale the day and yeare
