Census
A census of the population of England,
Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Isles was first taken in
1801. Further census have been conducted every subsequent 10 years,
except 1941 when the country was at war. From 1841
onwards the census records show the names of individuals on the
night of the census date. The data also includes other useful information
on individuals such as age, occupation and birth place etc. Access
to personal data is only available for census records over 100
years old.
