In the name of God Amen, the second day of September, in the yeare of our lord God: One thousand sixe hundred, Fiftie foure; I William Peirson the elder of Stanbridge in the p[ar]ish of Laighton Bussard in the County of Bedford yeoman: being sicke in body: But thankes be to God, in good and p[er]fect minde and memory, doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following, That is to say; First and principally I Comend my immortall soule into the handes of Almightie God my maker, trusting assuredly, that in and through the death and meritts of the Lord Jesus Christ my onely Saviour, and Redeemer to have eternall and everlasting life: And my bodie I Comitt unto the earth from whence it came, and to be buryed att the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named; And as for & concerninge my temporall estate as shall be hereafter expressed: First I give unto Alse Peirson my daughter and to her heires and assignes for ever seaven acres of areable land, with all and singuler the appurtenances Be the more or lesse dispersedly lyeing and being in the feilds of Stanbridge, in such places and Furlongs, as shall be herein expressed; that is to say; one througeout, being three woodes, in sand furlonge next the land of William Wigg on the South; and the land of Thomas Prentis on the North part: one butt? in the same furlonge next the land of William Atwell al[ia]s Wells on the South part: one acre together in Mill feild in the furlonge called spuddle spitt, next the land of Richard Dagnall on the North part: one acre together in Maggindon Feild on the sunniside of Muggindon hill, next the land of John Hogge on the West part; one other acre together in the same furlonge next the land of John Tarle on the East part, one halfe in westway furlonge next the lande of Will[ia]m Atwell al[ia]s Wells on the east part: one halfe acre Acre in Noaldwicke feild, in long Anson Deane furlonge, next the land of Thomas Homer on the East part: one acre together in Headon furlonge next the land of Thomas Ellingham on the west part, one halfe acre in Meadeway furlonge, next the land of Edward White on the west part; one halfe acre in the East feild being a laye in a furlonge there, called longe layes, next the land of John Tarle on the North part, with all and singuler every of their appurtenances: Item I give unto Ellen my deere and welbeloved wife, and to her heires and assignes forever, two acres of arrable land with the appurtenances lyeing and being in the feilds of Stanbridge aforesaid; one acre thereof lyeth together in west waye furlonge next the land of Henry Austin, on the west part; one other acre lyeth together in Drinest furlonge next the land of widdowe Doggett on the East part for to helpe pay my debts; provided alwaies that if the said Ellen my wife shall desire to sell the said land, That then she shall lett my sonne William have it to him, his heires and assignes for ever, payeing her the sume of twelve pounds of good and lawfull money of England: But if the s[ai]d William her sonne shall refuse to give his mother the said somme of twelve pounds of good and lawfull money of England for the said land: Then my will is, that my said wife shall have power to sell it to any other man; Item I give unto Ellen my deere and welbeloved wife; her Executors and Assignes the Messuage wherein I doe live, with all the houses, ediffices, and buildings, All all my Areable land, meadowe ground, and pasture ground, with all and singul[e]r thapp[ur]tenances for and during the tearme of seaven yeares after my decease, and no longer; upon Condic[i]on that she shall pay my debtes: Item I give unto William Peirson my sonne ten shillings of good & lawfull money of England, to be paid to him by my Executrix within one yeare after my decease: Item I give unto Henry Peirson my sonne tenn shillings of good and lawfull money of England, to be paid to him by my Executrix w[i]thin one yeare after my decease: I give unto Alse Peirson my daughter tenn shillings of good and lawfull money of England to be paid to her by my Ex[ecu]trix within one whole yeare after my decease: All the rest of my goods, Chattells, and Cattell unbequeathed, my legacies discharged, my debts paid, and my body decently buried, I give unto Ellen my deare and welbeloved wife, who I doe make and ordaine my Executrix of this my last will and testament.
