In the name of God Amen the nine and twentieth day of Aprill in the Seventh yeare of the Reigne of William the third King over England &c. Annoq[ue] Domini one thousand six hundred ninety five I Edward Pratt of Layton Buzzard in the County of Bedford Tallowchandler being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory (thanks be therefore given to Almighty God and calling to mind the uncertaine state of this transitory life and that all Flesh must yeild unto death when it shall please God to call and being desirous to settle things in order doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following revokeing and absolutely makeing void by these presents All and every Testament and Testaments Will and Wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or by writeing and this only to be taken for my last Will and Testament and none other First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my maker and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buryed in such decent manner as to my Execurixes shall be thought convenient And as touching such temporall Estate of goods chattells and debts as the Lord hath been pleased to bestow upon me I doe order give bequeath and dispose the same in manner and forme followeing Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my sonns Edward Pratt and Robert Pratt twelve pence apeice to be paid unto them by my Executrixes hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto my sonn James thirty pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto him by my Executrixes within one yeare after my decease if Major Cowdens Bond shall be had and recovered but in case the said Bond cannot be had and recovered then I will that my said sonn James shall have an equall fourth parte of my personall Estate he beareing an equall fourth parte of my debts funerall expences and other charges which my Executrixes shall be at about my buriall and other necessary charges Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Sanders the wife of John Sanders of Edminton in the County of Midd[lese]x husbandman the summe of twenty pounds of like money to be paid unto her by my Executrixes within one yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Sanders and Sarah Sanders the two daughters of my said daughter Sarah Sanders tenn pounds apeice to be paid unto them when they shall attaine to their severall and respective ages of twenty yeares . but in case the said Bond of Major Cowdens cannot be had and recovered then I will that the said Legacy of twenty pounds by me bqueathed to my said daughter Sarah Sanders and the tenn pounds apeice by me bequeathed to her two daughters Anne and Sarah shall be void And in Leiw of their said Legacies they the said Sarah the mother and the said Anne and Sarah her daughters shall have an equall fourth parte of my said personall Estate paying an equall fourth parte of my debts funerall charges and other necessary expences And in case either of the said two daughters Anne Sanders and Sarah Sanders shall dye before they shall be of the age of twenty yeares that then the Legacy or other share of the first deceased daughter shall come to the longer liver of them And in case both of the said daughters shall dye before they come to the age of twenty yeares as aforesaid then my will is that both the Legacies or other shares belonging to the said Ann Sanders and Sarah Sanders shall goe to to my said daughter Sarah Sanders Item I doe further give unto my granddaughter Anne Sanders one paire of sheets one pillow and pillowbeare one pewter dish two Napkins and two pewter plates All which are in the Custody or Keepeing of my daughter Mary Chandler amongst other things of mine And all the rest of my said things which are in the Keepeing or Custody of her I give and bequeath unto her the said Mary Chandler All the rest of my goods chattells and personall estate whatsoever and wheresoever my debts Legacies and Funerall expences being first paid and deducted I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebeccah Cobb and Sarah Jeffes my granddaughter the daughter of my said daughter Mary Chandler to be devided betweene them equally share and share alike And I doe hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Rebeccah Cobb and Sarah Jeffes to be Executixes of this my last Will and Testament In witnesse whereof to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of large paper I have sett my hand and seale the day and yeare above written The marke of the abovenamed Edward Pratt signed sealed published and declared by the Testator Edward Pratt as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us whose names are \here/ underwritten W[illia]m Kite The marke of John Butler Fran Arundell
