In the Name of God Amen, the seavententh daie of August in the yeare of our lord God, one thousand sixe hundred Fiftie and two.:. I Richard Theed the elder of Heath and Reach in the p[ar]ish of Laighton Bussard in the County of Bedford yeoman; being in good health of body, and of p[er]fect and sound memory (thankes be given to God) doe declare and make this my last will and testament in writing in manner and forme following: First I bequeath my soule to God my maker, trusting assuredly through the bitter death and bloudy passion sake of my savio[ur] Jesus Christ, to in heritt everlasting life in his heavenly kingdome; For my body I leave to the earth whereof it was made; to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named: And as for my p[er]sonall and reall estate it hath pleased God to blesse me with; first I give and bequeath unto my second sonne Thomas Theed All my arrable land, leys, meadowe, and pasture ground, scituate, lyeing and being in the feilds of Totternehoe and Sawell in the said County of Bedford, late purchased & bought by mee of one John George, and Phillipp Peppitt of Sundon in the Countie aforesaid Feoffees in trust for one Thomas Everett: Also I give and bequeath unto my said sonne Thomas Fifty pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid by my Executrix hereafter named to my sup[er]visors, and overseers of this my last will and testament hereafter noiated and expressed one yeare next after my decease, to be imployed, by them my said overseers for the best use and benefitt of him my said sonne Thomas, untell he shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeares; And then the said Fifty pounds, and the benefitt and use thereof, to be paid unto my said sonne Thomas by them my said Sup[er]visors and overseers; Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne John Theed All that my messuage or tenement, and all the arrable land leys, and meadow ground w[i]th th'app[er]tenances unto the same belonginge called by the name of the Ramd? scituate and being in Laighton Bussard aforesaid lately purchased and bought by mee of one Nicholas Oldberry of London Appothecary: Also I give and bequeath unto my said sonne John all that p[ar]cell of arrable land which I lately purchased of one Ralph Illing conteyning by estimacion two acres be it more or lesse lyeing and beinge in the Feilds of Laighton aforesaid; Alsoe I give and bequeath unto my said sonne John twenty pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid by my said Executrix unto my overseers of this my will, one yeare next after my decease, to bee by them imployed for the best use and benefitt of my said sonne John untell he accomplish the age of one and twentie yeares, And then to be paid unto him my sonne John with the benefitt thereof, by them or one of them, Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne William Theed, one hundred, and Fifty pounds, to be paid by my Executrix unto my Overseers, one yeare next after my decease, and by them to be imployed for the best use and benefitt of my said sonne William, untell he shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares, And then the said one hundred and Fiftie pounds with the use and benefitt thereof, to be by them my overseers paid unto my said sonne William: Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Theed two hundred and Fifty pounds of lawfull money of England which is oweing unto mee upon bond from my sonne Richard Theed, to be paid unto her by my Executrix at her age of seaventeene yeares, if shee be then married by and with the consent of my Executrix, and one or both of my overseers, And if she my said daughter Elizabeth doe and shall marrye without the consent of my said Executrix, and overseers, or one of them, then I doe will and bequeath unto her my said daughter Elizabeth, but one hundred pounds of lawfull English money; to be paid her at her day of marriage, or age of one and twenty yeares, which shall first happen: And my will is, that the other one hundred and Fiftie pounds, be paid unto my said sonnes, Thomas, John, and William Theed equally, as they shall attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares: Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Smith twenty shillings, to be paid her within two monethes after my decease to buy her a Ringe: Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Collier twenty shillings, to be paid her within two monethes after my decease to buy her a ringe: Item I give and bequeath unto the poore people of Heath and Reach Forty shillings of lawfull English money, to be distributed unto them at the discretion of my Executrix one weeke next after my decease: Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth all my goodes, monyes, and householdstuffe unbequeathed And doe make her my sole Executrix of this my last will and testament; I doe likewise make my sonne and heire Richard Theed: And my sonne in lawe Thomas Collier sup[er]visors and overseers of this my last Will, and testament, bequeathing to each of them twenty shillings, to be paid them one weeke next after my decease, to buy each of them a Ring: In Witnes whereof, I have hereunto sett my hand and seale, the day first above written.
