Transcript
In the name of God Amen. The three and twentieth
day of Aprill Anno D[omi]ni 1646. I Will[ia]m Studds of Heath in
the parish of Laighton Bussard in the Countie of Bed[for]d husbandm[an]
doe ordayne and make these p[re]sentes my last will and testament
in this mann[er] following First and above all earthly things I
comend my self in soule & body to the mercie of allmightie
god in hope of a ioyfull resurrecion Item I give and bequeath unto
Margery my wife and unto Jeremy Studs my sonne all my messuage
or te[nemen]nt in the Heath wherein I now dwell w[i]th all
the houses edifices yards gardens Orchards backsides Closes arrable
landes Comons proffites and app[er]ten[an]ces to the said messuage
or te[neme]nt belonging or app[er]tayning To hould and use together
dureing the life of the sayd Margery my wife And after her decease
Then wholly to remayne unto the sayd Jeremy Studds and his heyres
forever Item I give unto Thomas Studds my Sonne Tenn poundes of
lawfull money of Englande to be payed unto him within one yeare
after his apprentishipp is ended And yf my sayd Sonne Thomas happen
to dye before his legacy shalbe due as aforesaid Then my will is
his sayd legacie shalbe equally devided betweene my two daughters
Ellen and Elizabeth Item I give unto Elizabeth my daughter Tenn
poundes To be paied unto her within fower yeares next after my
decease And yf yt happen my said daughter Elizabeth dye before
this her legacie shalbe due as aforesaid Then I give the sayd Legacie
unto my Sonne Thomas and his Assignes forever Item I give unto
my daughter Hellen Jenkins and John her Sonne my blacke bullock
with the white starr on the Forehead to breed a Cowe; And my daughter
to have and take the proffitt And the Cow being bred to be maintayned
or exchanged for the use of her Sonne John Item I give and bequeath
unto the other Children of my daughter Jenkins To either of them
an Ewe sheepe And to be delivered unto them at Michelmas come twelve
moneth Item all the residue of my Goods Cattles and Chattles and
moveable and unmoveable unbequeathed I give and bequeath unto Margerie
my loveing wife and unto Jereme Studds my Sonne whome I make joynt
Executors of this my last will and Testament, To see my iust and
true debtes payed my Legacies performed and Funerall discharged
and my body decently brought to the Earth. In wittnesse whereof
I the sayd William Studds to this my sayd will have sett my hande
and Seale the day and yeare first above written; and acknowledged
the same in the presence of us whose names are hereunder subscribed
videlicet The marke and Seale of William Studds, The marke of William
Honner William Hogg sr. ./
