In the name of God Amen, The Seaventh daye of June
Anno Domini One thousand sixe hundred thirty one I Agnes Stone
of the Heath and Rach in the parish of Laighton Bussard in the
Countie of Bedf[ord] Widowe beinge (at this present) of sound and
perfect memory thankes be given unto God therefore, doe make this
my last will and Testament (in manner and forme following) First
I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmightie God,
my Creator, humbly and hartily desiringe pardon & forgivenes of
all my sinnes, hopeinge to have free remission thereof, through
the sole merritts and bitter, death and passion of Jesus Christ
his only sonne my alone Saviour and Redeemer And my body I bequeath
to the earth from whence it came, to be buried in the Churchyard
of Laighton aforesaid as neere the body of my sonne there interred
as conveniently it may. And as concerninge that worldly estate
the which God of his mercy hath beene pleased to lend mee I distribute
and dispose the same as followeth First I give and bequeath unto
John Wells one of the sonnes of my daughter Mary Wells five pounds
to be paid unto him within two moneths next after my decease And
alsoe my will is that the like some of five pounds be paid into
the hands of the said John within the like space of two moneths
next after my decease, to and for the use of Franncis Wells, one
other of the Sonnes of my said daughter Mary which some I give
to be paid unto the said Franncis w[i]thin sixe yeares after the
same shall come into the hands of the said John Item I give and
bequeath unto the said John and Franncis to each of them twoe paire
of sheets Item I give and bequeath unto William Wells one other
of \the sonnes of/ my said daughter Marie Twentie pounds of lawfull
money of England to be paid him within one moneth next after my
decease, and alsoe two paire of sheets Item I give and bequeath
unto Mary Wells and Elizabeth the two daughters of my said daughter
Mary to each of them foure pounds of like lawfull money to be paid
them within one moneth next after my decease And alsoe I give to
either and both of them one Cowe, two paire of sheets, three brasse
Kettles, sixe peeces of pewter, one spitt, and one Coverlett, and
one blankett And unto the said Mary one brasse pott And I doe make
and ordaine my said daughter Mary Wells now wife to John Wells
th'elder my sole Executrix of this my last will to whom (the legacies
before bequeathed my funerall expences, and all my debts first
paid satisfied and discharged) I give all the rest of my goods
and Chattells And further I doe hereby appoint Mr. Christopher
Sclater Vicar of Laighton Overseer of this my Will whom I entreate
and desire to be aidinge & helpinge unto my said Executrix in the
execuc[i]on of this my Will And thus havinge made this my Will
I doe annihilate and annull all other or former Wills or bequests.
In witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale the daie
and yeare above written The marke of Agnes Stone The Testator Sealed
openly read and published by the said Agnes Stone in the presence
of Chr[istopher] Sclater Christopher Theed ./
