September 22th 1641
In the Name of God Amen I John Franklin of Litle Billington in
the parrish of Laighton Bussard And County of Bedford being sicke
in Body, but of good and perfect remembrance Thankes be to Almighty
God doe ordaine and make This my Last Will and Testament the
day and yeare Above written In manner and forme following first
I Commend my soule to God and my Body to Bee Buried in the Churchyard
of Laighton And for those worldly goods God hath blessed me with
all I dispose of as it followeth. First I bequeath and give unto
Jane my Loveing wife fifteene pounds and all her Appurell And
all Household Things shee brought with her unto mee Item I Give
to my daughter Jone Franklin all my freehold Land Lying in the
Feilds of Standbridge And which I purchased Latly of Tho[mas]
Clark assoone as shee shall Accomplish the age of one and twenty
yeares And in the meane tyme my Executor hereafter Mentioned
to have the proffitts of the aforesayd Land towards the Bringing
of her upp And if it shall please God That my daughter Jone die
before she Accomplish that Age or without heire Then to returne
to my daughter Elizabeth Franklin Item I give unto my daughter
Elizabeth Franklin all my Coppy hold Land Lying within the feildes
of Billington Lately purchased of Thomas so soone as shee shall
Accomplish the age of one and Twenty yeares And in the meane
Time my Executor shall have the proffitts of the sayd Land Toward
the Bringing of her upp And and if she dy before she Come to
that age or with out he\i/res Then to returne to my daughter
Jone and her heires And all the rest of my Goods \&/ Chattells
unbequeathed (my debts Legacies funerall expences and Children
educated And paying The fine for Takeing upp the Coppy hold Land
Given to my daughter Elizabeth) I give unto my Brother Andrew
Franklin whom I make sole Executor of This my Last will and Testament
In wittnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the
day and yeare above written The Marke of John Franklin sealed
and delivered in the p[re]sence of John Turner William Marten
